1. Victorine Meurent, 1844-1927

Victorine Louise Meurent February 18, 1844 - March 17, 1927 .

In her early life, she has been known as the favorite model of Edouard Manet. Modeling for many Manet paintings to include the following

 Around 1870 she started taking art classes and had become withdrawn from Manet. Almost all of her paintings and drawings have been lost with the exception of one.

  2. I love the paintings. They are very old school, and capture the essence of reality very well. All the paintings no your page depict very realistic scenes, nt the profile, but the other scenes seem like everyday things that people do. I love the way the woman poses in the "Woman with Parrot" she seems so elegant doing such a natural pose with the parrot. I do sense some sadness in these pictures. I'm not sure if that's the way she wants to portray hersef, or wheter she had to pose in kind of sad face way.
    Anyhow, these painting seem very old, but very alive.
